In Las Vegas things are designed so that practically the only reason to leave one hotel is to go to another. Hotels feature shows to suit all tastes, dancing and practically anything you can think of. You can rest if you have time, gamble (of course) and go shopping. If you think that fashion is sidelined as an activity in Las Vegas, just take a glance at the fashion names and shops in the city and you will soon see that you are wrong. In Las Vegas everything is different, including the way in which the fashion trade is organised. The top brands are distributed at the shopping galleries in the hotels. The Forum Shops at Caesar's Palace, the Bellagio, the Grand Canal Shoppes at the Venetian each have their own style and décor: they make up a warren of indoor streets lined with luxury names. Chanel, Prada, Gucci, Hermès, Dior and Dolce & Gabbana, among many others, have shops distributed all along the Strip.
No less peculiar than the way fashion brands present themselves here is the layout of the leading US department stores. At one end of the city stands The Fashion Show Mall, which contains major multi-brand stores and also brings together such major chains as Neiman Marcus, Macy's, Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom and Bloomingdale's. |
